Cyclone Freddy is the longest-lived tropical cyclone ever recorded. The storm has killed hundreds of people and displaced thousands across communities in Malawi. It is one of the deadliest storms in southern Africa in recent years.
Hundreds of people remain missing and some of the worst-affected communities remain without little help. In most cases, people have been forced to rescue friends and loved ones from mud and rubble with their own hands. The storm is worsening many existing challenges in Malawi, the destruction caused by the storm threatens to worsen a cholera resurgence.
