STEPS4MALAWI In early 2020 presented a micro-enterprise program is designed to create real economic change in our part of Malawi. Working with SOLES4SOULS we utilized gently used shoes as a resource to help entrepreneurs in Malawi with an opportunity to start and sustain a small business (a micro-enterprise) of their own. Because shoes that are no longer needed are donated, STEPS4MALAWI was planning to provide a constant low cost quality supply of product to entrepreneurs, in the hope, they would be able to lift themselves and their family out of poverty. The program was successful but due to Covid Pandemic we were unable to see enough return to continue the program from the U.S. at that time. We are looking into redesigning the program using wholesale bundles purchased here in Malawi
One of the biggest issues Malawian Villagers face is safe and effective health care. The longer we are here the more we realize the need for immediate, efficient, and safe medical care. After 5 years of living in Malawi and spending thousands on medical assistance, we have learned that most issues are preventable., and have concluded that the best thing to do is provide a robust village based health and wellness center. Focusing on illness education, proper nutrition, and vector infestation prevention along with medicinal herbs and plants, and their propagation. This center, God willing, will be a place of prayer, teaching, and health improvement. Much more information to come.
Supporting Mthike, Chigwiligwidi, Thomu, and Lolo villages among others around the Chiringa trading center in the Phalombe region. We are phasing out free give away food, and are working towards food clubs made up of villagers working together with some small financial or commodity input. These groups will decide what, who and how this donated food is distributed within the groups area, thus building partnerships and boosting self esteem and personal empowerment. Along with the food clubs we will be offering regenerative farming practices which will improve harvest and expand the growing season offering more food for more people.
Emergency food availability will continue for providing assistance to widows and orphans on a case by case temporary basis until long term options can be implemented.
Working Biblically to support both spiritually, and physically.
